Lewis Simms  (Solutions Marketing and Communications Manager, Stratasys Direct Manufacturing)

Location: 209B

Date: Tuesday, February 11

Time: 10:45 am - 11:45 am

Track: 3D Printing Innovation Summit: Materials Trends: Metals, Ceramics, Multi-Materials, and More

Vault Recording: TBD

The benefits of Additive Manufacturing are real, but over the last five years 3D printing users have learned to separate 'hype' from 'hyperbole' and have discovered where additive manufacturing can truly by applied in the product development lifecycle.

In this session, Lewis Simms, an additive expert for Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, will present Looking Forward: Additive Manufacturing in 2020, a recent study which reports how companies are really using additive manufacturing in their ecosystems.

Stratasys Direct Manufacturing worked with SME Media to survey 700 engineers and designers to see how they were utilizing 3D printing and where they anticipate it will grow in 2020. These findings were collected and are compared to a similar study conducted by the company in 2015 to see what’s changed and what’s ahead for the future of additive manufacturing. Learn what respondents from small design shops to some of the largest companies in the world said about the most significant benefits of additive manufacturing; the technologies most often used; and the greatest challenges to the adoption of 3D printing.
